Using ecology to restore land and water
American Bellflower, also known as Tall Bellflower, is an annual or biennial species, depending on when germination occurs in the first season. It is good at naturalizing and will reseed to produce new plants. Plant size is variable, depending on soil fertility and site conditions. The numerous purple flowers are star-shaped with a long petal tube and open petal structure. The flowers provide nectar and pollen for a variety of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, skippers, and hummingbirds.
