Using ecology to restore land and water
Blue vervain is a short-lived, square-stemmed perennial that grows from fibrous roots and short rhizomes. The tall, stiffly erect flower stalks branch out with arms like a candelabra. Each spike is densely packed with small blue to violet tubular flowers. Blue vervain is found in swamps, wet meadows, wet to mesic prairies, stream banks, and moist fields.
