Using ecology to restore land and water
Large-leaf aster, also known as big-leaf aster, is a rhizomatous woodland plant that forms large, dense colonies. The basal leaves are large, heart-shaped and make a great ground cover for shady areas and under trees. The pale white to lavender flowers bloom in late summer and fall. Usually just a few plants in the colony will send up flower stalks. Large-leaf aster is found in deciduous forests and open woods.
