Using ecology to restore land and water
Meadow blazing star has stunning purple button-like flowers. This wildflower is a must-have for attracting monarch butterflies, it is quite the monarch magnet! It is common to see several monarch butterflies nectaring on the flowers of a single plant. The late season bloom time and high quality nectar make it the perfect pit stop on the monarchs’ long migration to Mexico. Songbirds eat the seeds as they ripen in the fall. Meadow blazing star grows in clumps and is a great perennial plant for home landscaping. In gardens with rich soils, the plant can reach up to 5 feet and may require staking.
