Using ecology to restore land and water
Rough blazing star, also known as button blazing star, has showy purple flowers clustered into button-like groupings distributed on flowering stalk. Flowers bloom from top of flower stalk down to bottom of clusters unlike most perennials which bloom from bottom to the top. The flowers are visited by bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Rough blazing star grows best in rocky or sandy soil and has good heat and drought resistance.
