Side oats grama is a warm-season prairie grass. It has oat-like spikes that dangle from one side of the stalk, with tiny red flowers emerging midsummer. The foliage turns tan with reddish hues in the fall. Side oats grama is drought resistant and adapted to a wide range of soil types.
