To begin, like many homeowners living along the shores of Lake Minnetonka, wave and ice erosion was a constant challenge for our client. To combat this problem, they elected to install riprap armor along their shoreline. While this method did help to alleviate the shoreline erosion issues, it left the shoreline void of any plant life, animal habitat or aesthetics. Fortunately, the homeowners reached out to us for help. After a brief consultation, our team of experts developed a plan to work with the existing riprap to create a naturalized riprap shoreline. To do this, we removed a strip of turf grass along the lakeshore and replaced it with deep-rooted native plant species that were better equipped to prevent erosion. Over the following seasons, our maintenance team continued to suppress invasive species and turf grass, allowing the native species to fully establish. The end result is a remarkable demonstration of how traditional landscaping methods can be enhanced with the addition of native plants to create a visually stunning and ecologically beneficial shoreline. Our passion for enhancing Minnesota’s ecosystem drives us to help property owners create beautiful and thriving natural landscapes. Whether you’re dealing with erosion problems or simply looking to enhance your shoreline’s visual appeal, we are here to help. Let us demonstrate how effortless it can be to make a positive impact on your environment while creating an alluring and natural shoreline that benefits both your property and our ecosystem.
